Acerola Cherry

The Acerola Cherry, also known as the Barbados Cherry, is a superfruit with a high level of polyphenol antioxidants. Native people of the West Indies and South America have been consuming this beneficial fruit for hundreds of years, in the treatment of fevers, inflammation, to improve heart function and even to combat tuberculosis.

This nutrient rich superfruit contains essential vitamins such Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Thiamine (Vitamin B1). Some believe it even contains more Vitamin A than carrots. It also has essential minerals like Magnesium, Manganese and Zinc to maintain proper metabolism in the body.

In a study of 11 fruits' pulps antioxidant content, Acerola Cherry had the most antioxidant potency of any domestic fruit.[1]

It is perhaps the high concentrations of antioxidants such as the Vitamin C and Vitamin E that help neutralize free radicals from attacking cells in the body. A detailed nutrition facts analysis shows Acerola juice contains over 30-times the Vitamin C in orange juice, supporting its claim as one of the richest sources of Vitamin C available.[2]
